1. Purpose
This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") sets out the rules for using Toolumen, a Stacklumen
product available at toolumen.com. It covers the browser-first web tools, your account,
and the server-side Elite vectorize API. By using Toolumen you agree to these rules. We
wrote them to keep the service fast, secure, and available for everyone — and to protect
the people whose content passes through it.
2. Prohibited uses
You must not use Toolumen, your account, or the API to do any of the following:
- Illegal or infringing content. Upload, process, generate, or distribute
content that is unlawful, or that infringes anyone's copyright, trademark, trade secret,
privacy, publicity, or other rights.
- Malware and malicious code. Transmit viruses, worms, trojans, ransomware,
or any code designed to harm, disrupt, or gain unauthorized access to systems or data.
- Attacks on the service. Attempt to break, probe, overload, disrupt, or
degrade Toolumen or its infrastructure, including denial-of-service attacks, fuzzing, or
sending malformed or excessive requests.
- Scraping and automated abuse. Scrape, crawl, or use automated means to
access the site or tools outside of the published API, or in any way that places an
unreasonable load on the service.
- Circumventing controls. Bypass or attempt to bypass authentication, rate
limits, usage quotas, billing, or any other technical or access control.
- Sharing or reselling API keys. Share, publish, transfer, sublicense, or
resell your API keys, or use them on behalf of another party as a means to evade per-account
quotas or pricing.
- Processing content you don't own. Submit images, files, URLs, or other
content that you do not have the rights or permission to process.
- Harassment and abuse. Use Toolumen to harass, threaten, defame, or harm
others, or to produce or distribute content that does so.
3. API fair use
The Elite tier includes a vectorize API with an included monthly quota and per-call overage
pricing beyond it. To keep the API reliable for every account:
- Respect rate limits and quotas. Stay within the published rate limits and
your plan's quota. Do not architect your usage to spike, burst, or work around these limits.
- Keep your keys secret. Treat API keys like passwords. Store them securely,
never commit them to public repositories or client-side code, and rotate them if you suspect
they have been exposed.
- One account, one set of keys. The keys issued to an account are for that
account only. They may not be pooled across accounts or used to provision access for others.
4. Consequences
If we believe you have violated this policy, we may take action proportionate to the issue,
including:
- A warning and a request to stop the offending behavior.
- Throttling or temporarily limiting your access or API throughput.
- Suspending your account, API keys, or specific tools.
- Terminating your account and revoking access entirely.
Where the situation is serious — such as an active attack, illegal activity, or a risk to
other users — we may act immediately and without prior notice.
5. Reporting abuse
If you encounter content or activity on Toolumen that violates this policy, please report it
to apps@stacklumen.com. Include as much detail as you
can — URLs, timestamps, and a description of the issue — so we can investigate quickly.
6. Forms and marketing
Information you submit through forms on the site — such as contact, support, or request forms —
is collected and used for marketing and to respond to you, as described in our
Privacy Policy. Please review it to understand what we
collect and how we use it.
7. Changes
We may update this policy from time to time as the service evolves or as legal requirements
change. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of Toolumen
after a change takes effect means you accept the updated policy.
